Spring 2011 - Red Shift

Picture
I received my NAR Level 1 High Power Rocketry Certification with Red Shift.   I built the rocket with Harvard SEDS and launched it with CMASS NAR.  I successfully launched and recovered the rocket.

Summer 2010 - AfterNoon DeLite

Picture
At the Alabama Space Grant Consortium's High Powered Rocketry Workshop, I built AfterNoon DeLite with Lars Osborne and Taylor Courier.  We used a MadCow Patriot starter kit and added a payload section for an onboard camera. To make this work, we added an extra bulk head with an eyebolt and shock cord. The hardest part was designing a mount system and lens hole for the camera that would keep it from breaking.  We successfully launched and recovered the rocket.

Summer 2010 - Coors-1X

Picture
In my spare time at the NASA Robotics Academy, I built Coors-1X with Lars Osborne.  The body has four Coors Light cans and one bottle for the nose cone.  We used a Coke can (which has a slightly larger diameter) for the sleeve.  The two parts were able to slide out of the sleeve at apogee for the parachute to deploy.  We only recovered the bottom half of the rocket because the shock cord came loose from the bottle.

Summer 2010 - Estes Rocket

Picture
My first rocket ever.  Just an Estes kit rocket painted gold.  It was a two stage rocket with a B and C motor.  We got to make them when we attended Space Camp as part of Robotics Academy.  Learned a lot about rockets that allowed me to build Coors-1X and AfterNoon DeLite.
